As you know, we have been pushing for the Chair to hear directly from you, the bereaved, in the Inquiry’s evidential hearings. Module 1 is focused solely on preparedness and the module will examine:

  • The Government's understanding of the basics of Covid-19, the virus and its threat.
  • The Government structures and specialist bodies concerned with risk management and civil emergency planning.
  • The planning for a pandemic, including forecasting, resources, and the learning from past simulation exercises, and what plans were in place.
  • Public health services, their development, readiness and capacity, the impact of Brexit and the monitoring and communications about emerging disease.
  • Economic planning regarding emergencies, including anti-fraud controls.
  • Planning for future pandemics, including international preparedness; the risks of new variants, other viruses of concern, and transmission from animals.

We would like to hear directly from you if you believe you have an account that is relevant to the issues covered in Module 1, and are willing to be called on as a witness during the hearing.

Once we have gathered your accounts we will make further submissions to the Chair inviting her to call you as a witness. It will be a matter for the Chair who she decides to call to give evidence.

Please fill in our webform below, or get in touch with our team on covidinquiry@broudiejacksoncanter.co.uk or Freephone 0808 296 5839 if you have any issues completing this form.
