It’s no secret that the impacts of lockdown are long lasting and widely spread. Many of these effects, in fact, we may not realise for some time. What we do know now, however, is that support for social, mental health and financial issues is needed following the tough lockdown restrictions that we’ve endured over the last year in order to keep each other protected from the virus.

We have collectively shown incredible strength and resilience as we banded together to protect the most vulnerable in society. We cannot forget, though, that it is equally as important to now support those who need it most.

We’re involved with an incredible event on Monday 9th August between 10am – 6pm at Williamson Square that will allow us to do exact that; offer support services that will help many get back on their feet. Some of the wonderful local charities and organisations in attendance include:

Many families across Liverpool and beyond have had their lives turned upside down during lockdown. Many have lost jobs, many have been forced to isolate in dangerous situations, and many have struggled with mental health issues that will stay with them long after the restrictions are eased.

This event is there to help showcase some of these incredible local organisations and all the ways they can help the community. There will be a whole host of resources available for attendees to take advantage of, and each agency will staff an outdoor stall to provide information to members of the public on the services which they offer.

Not only will the event raise awareness, promote services, and showcase the work achieved during lockdown, but will also mark the end of tough restrictions and the importance of community, something that we’ve all realised over this past year.

All are welcome. With entertainment provided by local businesses, artists, and some inspirational community members, there’s plenty here for the public to get involved with.

If attendees are feeling apprehensive about attending alone, they are more than welcome to bring members of their support network. Likewise, if they’d rather attend alone, the community will be on hand to welcome them with open arms (metaphorically speaking, of course).

We can’t wait to welcome you all to this event and reunite with our community. We do, however, need your support in making sure this event helps as many people as possible. Here’s what you can do to support us:

  • Spread the word: the more people know about the event, the more people we can help. Share it far and wide to anyone you think would be interested in attending and don’t forget to share our social media assets.
  • Sponsor us: we’re seeking sponsors to help us put on the best event possible. We’ll need funds to host the event, pay for entertainment and equipment in exchange for visibility at the event. Can you help?
  • Join us: we’re looking for speakers, performers and local organisations to get involved with this event. The more the merrier! Join us at Williamson Square on Monday 9th August between 10 am – 6 pm.

We look forward to welcoming you to this event! If you’d like some more information on how you can get involved or become a sponsor, please contact RASA at rasa@rasamerseyside.org
