Over recent years the Jackson Lees Group has been very successful in the number of awards and accolades we have picked up for what we do and who we are. Our work representing 20 families in the Hillsborough Inquest was a highly prolific piece of work carried out with efficiency, dedication and attention to detail. Close forensic examination of video evidence and many hundreds of thousands of documents led to a good outcome for the families after many years of struggle. However, our success goes deeper than that, we have a good story to tell about everything we do.
Making a Positive Difference is our ethos and we aim to do this through our legal work, our staff experience and the way we engage with society at large through the Jackson Lees Foundation. This has led to multiple, national awards including: Chris Topping being named as Human Rights Lawyer of the Year, Elkan Abrahamson as Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year and The Jackson Canter Group winning Liverpool Law Society Large Law firm Award on the last two occasions. To win an award you have to let people know who you are and what you have achieved, so to some degree awards are the result of a bit of self-promotion.
So, it was very nice to have recently been recognised for what we do by an unexpected and unsolicited source. The Jackson Lees Group has been included in the London Stock Exchange Group’s ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ compilation for 2018. The list is drawn up based on our company status, size (now £12 million revenue), financial performance (based on four years accounts) and finally sector benchmarking. We have posted good figures as we have grown organically, and more recently, through acquisition.
Through this growth we have not compromised our principles, still carrying out our legal aid work which is increasingly difficult to do with government cuts to funding and payment rates. We still work for 1500 asylum seekers, parents who are wrongfully threatened with their children being taken into care, those who suffer from mental illness, prisoners, those accused of criminal offences, death in custody victims and those suffering injustice at the hands of public bodies.
We are also in the process of enhancing the services we offer to more affluent families, as we seek to provide services tailored to the needs of our clients from cradle to grave. Proper financial planning for families is paramount and this can “make a positive difference”.
Success in business is rarely accidental. It is a result of good leadership, good teamwork, strategic planning, attention to detail on the operational side and good financial stewardship. But it is also about inspiring a group of people to listen to what the clients say and providing solutions for them. This is proper customer service.
We are proud to be one of the thousand companies chosen to inspire Britain and we will work hard to continue to inspire. However, our primary goal will never be money. We believe that if we do the right things for the right reason, we will inspire and provide financial success for all involved.
