There is yet another story of a Merseyside Police officer who abused his position for his own ends.

The behaviour of this officer is one which carries a striking similarity with the case of ex DC Michael McMillan.

We have been involved in both these cases, looking after the victims of what is really invidious behaviour. Our clients had been particularly vulnerable and had looked to the Police for help in their hour of need. The clients have been left with a distrust of the Police which may never go away.

Sadly those responsible for looking after them and given the duty to protect them did precisely the opposite. Having sought help to escape desperate situations, their plight was made worse and the suffering they had already endured compounded.

We are entitled to expect that the Police will do their job and protect us. When they fail, it is only right that they are held to account and to be fair to Merseyside Police, both of these cases have been pursued by the Professional Standards Department. The worry that these cases are the tip of an iceberg and have been brought to light because of the courage of the victims in speaking out.

No one should have to endure such a massive breach of their trust. There is a concern there may be many more victims who cannot speak out.

Officers like McMillan and Campbell have no place in a Police force.

If you have a similar issue then we can assist in ensuring that those who is job is to serve are called to account. Please contact us for a call back or message us your enquiry.
