Representing Families
Broudie Jackson Canter are proud to have represented 20 families in the Hillsborough Inquests, which finished on 26th April 2016 with an Unlawful Killing verdict.
Hillsborough Law Bill
The fight for justice continues. Elkan Abrahamson of Broudie Jackson Canter drafted the Hillsborough Law Bill, along side Pete Weatherby KC of Garden Court North Chambers. Hillsborough Law, also known as The Public Authority (Accountability) Bill creates a legal duty of candour on public authorities and officials to tell the truth and proactively cooperate with official investigations and inquiries.
Elkan and Pete are also directors of the Hillsborough Law Now campaign, which is a broad coalition of families, activists, leaders, and everyday people calling for a duty of candour law.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer at the Labour Party Conference in September 2024, has promised to bring in Hillsborough Law - a duty of candour on public bodies.
