Detective Sergeant, Dave Stubbs, abused his position and failed to investigate brothel claims.

The Merseyside police officer has been sacked after being accused of contacting a suspected historic abuse victim with a chain of inappropriate text messages. A police investigation has shown that his professionalism and integrity had fallen well short of those demanded by the force, bringing his 19-year career as a police officer to an abrupt end.

The alleged victim said that she was left needing counselling and had suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder after she had received the series of texts from Stubbs.

Karen Cummings, Head of Professional Standards and detective chief superintendent, said:

“Merseyside police demands the highest standards of professionalism and integrity from all its officers and support staff. Sadly the actions of Stubbs have propensity to seriously undermine the good work being carried out by officers across the force.”

Stubbs was sacked without notice back in September 2015 when his activities arose.

This is not the first time we have heard about Merseyside Police officers abusing their powers in such a way. In January 2016 Michael McMillan was sacked by the Force when he was found to have made sexual advances to a domestic abuse victims for his own sexual purposes. Last week he was sent to prison for misconduct in office.
