Job Title: Costs Draftsman/Lawyer
Reporting: Reports to Ian Townley
Office Location: Liverpool (Hybrid Working)
Overall purpose: To provide first rate legal services to our clients according to their specific needs, ensuring full compliance with policies and procedures laid out by the group and by regulatory bodies. To act as an ambassador for the group at all times, actively promoting its services.
What do we need?
Due to continuous growth in the Jackson Lees Group we are currently recruiting for a Costs Lawyer/Costs Draftsperson for our Billing Team to be based in our Liverpool Office. You will be part of our in-house team which services various legal departments across the Group dealing with a variety of case work for our Clinical Negligence, Court of Protection, Civil Liberties, General Litigation, Family and Immigration teams.
What do you need?
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a legal costs role, preferably Claimant-centric.
- Ability to work under own initiative and manage time and priorities effectively
- Proficient with Cost Master and Proclaim.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence to engage with internal/external stakeholders
- Passion, drive and approachable.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide and effective, timely and efficient service to firm’s clients in accordance with department SLAs
- Manage own caseload from start to finish
- Undertake the following;-
- Preparation of Bills of Costs (including electronic bills)
- Preparation of Costs Budgets
- Preparing Replies/Points of Dispute
- Negotiations
- Advocacy (desirable)
- Ensure that personal and department KPIs and Minimum Requirements are achieved.
- To ensure that legal and cost knowledge/ skills are kept up to date and that CPD training (where applicable) is completed.
