If you’re looking for advice around the breakdown of a relationship and how you can get help, then you may like to know that the Covid-19 lockdown need not affect your ability to progress your case.
In response to the current situation, our divorce lawyers have updated our normal procedures to enable us to progress cases using online and socially distanced methods. This means that separating couples can progress their situation, regardless of the lockdown.
Want to know where you stand now? We’re here to help you.
It is possible to start divorce proceedings - online
It can be reassuring to know that with all our client meetings now being held online and with the courts convening remotely, your case can still be progressed in a timely & safe manner. Contact us for an initial phone call or video meeting and we’ll talk you through your options and how the process works.
What does the process look like now?
HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) has provided an online portal that has introduced a streamlined process that’s much easier to follow.
- You send us a picture or scan of your marriage certificate by email.
- We issue proceedings remotely via the HMCTS portal.
- Papers are emailed to the other party who can login and respond.
Not only is this process much safer in the current climate, but it also saves physical papers being posted. This is reducing processing and waiting times.
Don’t want to go to court? Our mediators are helping - online
Mediation is an option that works to allow separating couples to move toward a resolution outside of court. This option is available in the current situation with mediators offering their services through video meeting platforms like Zoom. Ironically, this can be easier and more productive than meeting face to face.
Total support during divorce - online
It’s no secret that divorces and things like financial issues normally go hand-in-hand. We can still provide you with advice on all aspects of your case, including financial proceedings. We can issue new proceedings online and where proceedings have already been issued under the old system, we can help you progress them online.
Our lawyers provide a reassuring constant in a world of change
