The Jackson Lees Group are proud to have supported Everton in the Community over the last year and a half, and we’ve seen first-hand the difference it can make to some of the lives of young vulnerable people in the community.
Everton in the Community is an amazing charity with over 40 programmes covering education, health and wellbeing, youth engagement, employment and training and social isolation. It is known as a charity that not only changes lives but saves lives. They support the most vulnerable and underprivileged members of local communities in the North West through their ‘Youth Zone’ project.
Paul
Paul first came to kicks Youth Zone session on 13th December 2016. The first session Paul attended, he came across a bit cheeky but nothing out of hand. From day one, all the EITC coaches could see Paul was a really talented player.
After a few sessions in, we started introducing Group workshops and getting to know the participants a bit more. From Paul’s files, we found out he was in care, which we then added up to possibly why his behaviour was increasing getting worse. Within a month, Paul was attending the session with a group of lads from around the area who have been causing a bit of trouble to the neighbourhood.
The behaviour from Paul and the rest of the group was gradually getting worse around the community and within the session, we heard complaints from the neighbours about how disruptive the group had started becoming.
Each participant was getting banned from the kicks youth zone each week but kept coming back. We put a plan together to work with them closely and gradually feed them back in with the other group. A separate session was put on for that troubled group in which Paul was apart off.
During the session, we could speak to Paul one on one and do more workshops with the group. The last 4 weeks has seen a real improvement in Paul’s behaviour. He is no longer using inappropriate language towards staff and refusing to leave sessions.
Since then, Paul has completed several workshops with us and completed a first aid course.
The lead coaches at the session are now wanting to take Paul away with the kicks team as part of our kicks programme to visits to other clubs.
Executive Chairman of the Jackson Lees Group, Andrew Holroyd, commented on our partnership and the way it has changed lives in the community, by saying:
“Everton in the Community makes a huge different in the lives of so many they help. This really fits in with out ethos as a law firm and we are delighted to contribute to this great work. “
