We have noticed an increase in the number of people contacting us to make Wills over  the past weeks and this is completely understandable in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many people are currently working from home and they are getting their houses and gardens in order. Now is also an ideal time to think about getting your affairs in order.

People often associate making Wills with getting older and they tend to put off making them until something happens in their life that prompts them into getting in touch with us. However, anyone over the age of 18 can make a Will - it is not just something for people in their 70s and 80s to think about.

The law states who will inherit everything you own if you die without leaving a valid Will and the people who would legally benefit might not be the people you want or expect.

You may be tempted to try to make your own Will but there are certain legal requirements and there is no point in having a Will if it does not work or is not a valid document.

At Jackson Lees we have a team of experts who prepare Wills daily and can provide expert advice to ensure you have a Will that is right for you and your circumstances.

Although we are not able to do any face to face meetings at the present moment, we are still here to help.

Our Wills, Trusts and Probate team are working remotely and can speak to you over the phone or over another platform such as Skype or Zoom if you would prefer in order to start the process.

Once your Will has been drafted we will send it out to you with a full explanation of what each clause means and we will go through the draft with you over the phone. We will then send the final version out to you in the post with signing instructions.
