Broudie Jackson Canter’s The Covid Inquiry Podcast returned for a new series this week, with lead solicitor Nicola Brook at the helm.

She was joined by Lorelei King, a regular guest on the podcast, who is an actress, narrator and more pertinently, one of the bereaved. Together, they welcomed Pete Weatherby KC, Catriona Myles, Enda McGarrity, Thalia Maragh and Liam Powney-Wain to discuss what had happened in the first week of Evidential Hearings for Module 2.

Catriona, a bereaved family member, bravely gave evidence for Northern Ireland in the Inquiry this week. Within her evidence she said that the bereaved are “the experts in what went wrong”.

While appearing on the podcast, she said: “No one can take that away from us. No one is going to know better than us what it was like when it all went horribly wrong.”

Thalia Maragh later confirmed that the legal team will continue to back the bereaved and enthused about how important their voices are. She said: "I strongly argue and will continue to campaign with you all [the bereaved] for your voices to be heard as evidence in the Inquiry. Unless the Inquiry hears the evidence, they cannot really understand what you have been through."

What is the aim of the Covid Inquiry Podcast?

In the words of Nicola Brook, the podcast is about "giving real, honest and raw reflections on what evidence is being heard that week."

The Covid Inquiry Podcast will invite a number of guests on each week including members of other Core Participant groups and bereaved family members, who can share various perspectives of the Covid Inquiry, while giving them a chance to have their voices heard.
