Rafael Donovan, solicitor in the Wills, Trusts, and Probate team at Jackson Lees’ Exchange Flags office in Liverpool city centre, shares their thoughts:
People often contact us after a person has passed away and ask when the “Will reading” is going to be. A Will is a confidential document and, when someone passes away and we have prepared their Will, we can only release it to the Executors. The Executors are the people appointed by the person who has died to deal with their estate.
We are happy to go through the Will with the Executors when they come into the office to see us but there is no dramatic “Will reading” where someone who thought they were going to be included in the Will finds out they have been left nothing.
We're here to help.
Dealing with a loved one’s estate can be daunting and can feel like a burden when you are already going through a difficult time. At Jackson Lees, we have a team of specialist lawyers who deal with estates daily and know how to handle even the most complex of situations. We are here to help and take the burden away from you.
We are always clear about the costs involved if they decide we would like us to help them further. We can help deal with everything or we can help with particular things if the Executors feel they can deal with some aspects themselves. Executors have important duties to the people who the estate has been left to under the Will and it is essential to make sure they deal with the estate properly and efficiently. We would therefore always recommend that you take professional advice.
