Fathers Rights
In the event of a family breakdown, it is important to know what your rights as a parent are and what are the arrangements for your children.
You and your ex-partner will have to consider a number of different issues such as:-
- Where your child lives;
- When your child is to spend time with you or your ex partner;
- When and what other types of contact, such as phone calls, should take place
For anyone who shares the parental responsibility of a child, you may need to apply for one of two court orders:
- A Specific Issue Order determines specifics such as how the child will be brought up, for example what school they should go to.
- A Prohibited Steps Order which aims to stop the other parent from making a decision about the child's upbringing.
